Film Brief

We have chosen to do Thriller 1, a thriller aimed at a female audience.

• Young girl
• Walking through woods
• Dirty white dress
• Bare foot, dirty
• Long black hair
• Tugging along a Barbie doll on a string
• Creepy non diegetic music
• Girl breathes heavily and sings gentle nursery rhymes
• We will use jump cuts and hand held to create a very raw, surreal effect

We have chosen to do a thriller aimed at a female audience, as we both feel as though we can relate to this genre, being girls. We decided not to do a comedy because it is hard to know what will be found funny, and we find that thrillers have the potential to create a bigger impact than comedies.

Our idea is inspired by Tideland and The Ring, as they both include little girls that have a horrific aspect about them. Tideland uses surreal props, such as toys, which accompany the theme of children. This is where we got the idea of using the Barbie, as it is twisting an innocent idea into a scary one.

We pitched our brief to Mrs Black, and she has agreed to it. :)
