Key Elements of our Opening

By Maud Start & Emerald McNamara.

In our opening we must include the following in order to conform to the expectations of the genre we have chosen, the audience we have chosen and what is expected in a film opening.

  • Institutions that will produce and distribute our movie
  • Credits listing
    • the main actors
    • producers and directors
  • Non Diegetic music that will reflect the initial atmosphere of the movie
  • Our main character that will be present throughout the story
  • Diegetic sound that is relevant to the ambience of the scene
    • footsteps
    • heavy breathing
    • cracking twigs
    • rustling leaves
    • quiet nursery rhyme, sung
  • A date, to make the scene clearer and easier to understand
  • The title of the movie.
All of this will put together an opening scene that will portray all the information that it is needed to make our film understandable to the audience.
