Todorov's theory proposes a basic structure for all narratives. He states that films and programs begin with an eguilibrium; a calm period. Then agents of disruption cause disequilibrium, a period of unsettlement and disquiet. This is then followed by a new renewed state of peace and harmony for the protagonists and a new equilibrium brings the chaos to an end.

However this structure is not entirely correct for our movie as it comes under the genre of ‘Thriller’. This effects the structure of this theory as the equilibrium don’t quite keep the tension needed to generate a thrill towards the audience. The movie firstly starts with the young girl walking through the woods bare foot. The scene then cuts to the girl have flash backs preventing a mysterious mist to the viewer as they attempted to work out the storyline of the film. Equilibrium will be influenced however mostly at the beginning of the scene. Disruption will be the main source as it adds the thrill to the scene.
